For students who will enroll into VUSD for the first time, your application will be processed after registration for the upcoming school year opens in March. 

To submit an interdistrict transfer application for the 2024-2025 school year, visit both tabs below this one.

If the student is currently receiving special education services (IEP), a copy of the most recent IEP must be attached with the application.

Fill out the interdistrict transfer form below and submit it to your district of residence. They will process it first, and forward to us if they've released the student.

For applications for the 2023-2024 school year, you allow 3-4 weeks to receive a notice regarding the results of the request. 

For applications for the 2024-2025 school year, allow 1-2 months to receive a notice regarding the results of the request. For students who will enroll into TK and Kinder for the first time, you will be notified after March, as enrollment begins then. 

If your student receives Special Education services, allow a minimum of four weeks as we have our Special Education department review the IEP.

You will receive a copy of the transfer application via email to the address provided on the application. 

We request the most recent IEP to ensure the services the student needs are available at the school or district requested. 

A new intradistrict transfer will need to be submitted if there's an address change. 

Otherwise, it is valid through the last grade at their current school. (i.e. 5th, 8th, 12th)

A new interdistrict transfer will need to be submitted if there's an address change or if your district of origin is one of the following:

• Capistrano USD
• Del Mar Union SD
• Lake Elsinore USD
• Murrieta Valley USD
• San Dieguito Union High SD
• Temecula Valley USD

Otherwise, it is valid through the last grade at their current school. (i.e. 5th, 8th, 12th)

Transfers can only be approved by Student Services once available space has been verified by school staff.   

During the month of July, schools are closed and Student Services cannot approve transfers until school staff is available to verify space availability. 

Transfers for students with IEPs can only be approved once the Special Education Department has verified that there is space available in a program that can provide services aligned to the offer of FAPE. 

Admission to Magnet Schools is only available through the annual Magnet School lottery process.

Transfer requests from students with poor behavioral or attendance histories may be denied.
